2021 TBC Alps Tour More Info Our tour dates are

Covid-19 UK & Worldwide.

As I’m sure you’re well aware, the spread of the new Corona Virus has decimated travel across the world.  My April Trip to Nepal & Tibet was the first one to be cancelled, then it soon became clear that we could not run the French Alps Trip either. Even the closer-to-home “Best of Three” trips have to be postponed for now because restaurants, hotels & pubs are closed and all non-essential travel is forbidden.  I think it’s fair to say that nothing can be planned for the Summer months of May to August now.  It’s very much speculation at this stage, but if we’re able to run a short trip to the Yorkshire Dales in September, we shall do so. No promises can be given however.  Again, it’s a little early to say, but hopefully we’ll be able to look forward to a trip back to Nepal in November 2020, and plan for the big Adventure in Tibet, late April 2021.

In the meantime, please keep in touch via our Facebook Group here https://www.facebook.com/groups/97385955276/  Let’s look back on the great trips we’ve enjoyed together and start to dream again of the adventures we can have when things return to normal.

What are the highlights – generally fantastic weather with temperatures up to 35C. Riding the high passes. French Cuisine. Riding a circuit right around Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest mountain, in one day! 9 mountain passes and three different countries; France, Switzerland and Italy. What the suitability – Bikes over about 500cc capable of motorway speed riding. All types of rider including pillions. Nothing too technical, but the outward and return journeys require a bit of stamina to cover around 400 miles in a single day. We stay at one base in the Alps, and then ride 0 to 220 miles per day. All day rides are optional. Resting by the pool back at base is always an option.

How much does it cost – £599 (camping version) to £890 per rider depending on room occupancy.

More about the tour

This is the long-established & most popular overseas tour. My guided motorcycle trip to the High Alps of Savoie has been running once or twice per year now since 2000, and my history of going there with groups dates right back to 1983. The main attraction is to ride some of the most dramatic and highest mountain passes in France, Italy and Switzerland. It’s a two day ride to get there, and the same to get home again, staying in traditional French hotels en-route. We make our base for 7 days in or close to Bourg St Maurice, using self-catering chalets, thereby keeping costs in check, but also enjoying the outdoor Alpine life. AS WITH ALL MY TOURS, please view the photo albums on the Bike Tours UK Group Facebook page if you can. There are lots and lots of photos of each trip, and comments from riders & pillions who’ve been there.

Amazing scenery, fantastic roads (best in the world?), expert local knowledge with fluent French speaking guide (me!). Plus, lots more to do than just biking….. summer skiing or white water rafting for example!
