Get your spanner work done by Dave.  Lovely guy, very professional and intelligent - not the average grunt you sometimes find at bike shops.  Flexible, does what you want, won't rip you off, and prices are reasonable.

I do a lot of bike servicing myself, but only tend to do the simple stuff.  Anything which is a bit too tricky, or I don't fancy tackling myself, I take to Dave.  He lives in the real world.

I first met Dave, when a mate of mine made a stupid cock-up with his ZZR600.  He stripped one of the plug threads in the cylinder head.  He removed the head and got it helicoiled.  BUT, on replacing the cylinder head he made a total hash of the valve clearances - they were miles out, and he hadn't a clue what to do!  Dave to the rescue.  I don't know how my mate Rob knew about Dave, but along came the Knight in Shining Armour with toolkit & expertise and he did the work one evening in my garage.  Quickly, efficiently, and didn't charge very much.  He was working as a mechanic for a Nottingham dealership at the time, and used to do a few "foreigners".

MTS (Motorcycle Tyre Services)

A great little supplier / fitter of tyres, just on the outskirts of Nottingham.  Take along your own tyres if you must, and they'll fit them to loose wheels for you for £10.  They supply tyres at good rates too.

Maybe phone first, as it's a bit tricky to find if you don't know Nottingham.  It's off the Colwick Loop Road, Nottingham end.
