Price of camping alternative

click to see larger image Even the camping option includes one hotel stop on the way down, and one hotel stop on the way back.

The camping alternative costs £485 for bike and rider, or £365 for pillion passengers. If you’ve never camped before and don’t have the necessary equipment, please get in touch as I can supply tents and associated items if needed. Once again, the price includes the channel crossing tickets and hotel accommodation en-route – one night on the way down, and one night on the return journey, as well as all camping fees and taxes. La Petite Auberge (the Hotel) is located 15 minutes’ walk to one side of town, and the campsite, Le Versoyen is 10-12 minutes the other way, next to the park, the tennis courts, the supermarkets and the swimming pool.
The campsite, is run by people who’ve become friends of mine – Jean-Francois & Annique Niccolino – well, I have been camping there regularly, both Winter & Summer, since 1983, so they’re used to me by now. We have our own spaces allocated on the extremities of the site, and it generally isn’t very busy at these times of year. The shower and toilet blocks are clean and maintained to a high standard. It’s comfortable 3 star camping!

A word about camping (IOM TT trip and France). It's not rerally about economics, it's just a thing you like, or you don't. We get high earners, guys with enormous disposable incomes, who could afford a 5 star hotel if they wanted, but still, they choose to camp, because that's what they enjoy. "It's a different dynamic down here on the campsite" said a man highly under transatlantic linguistic influence this year. Campers just get on with it, bond well together and have fun. They never seem to whinge about anything. Even when it rains for 3 days. Well, maybe just a little then.

A great thing about camping is, you can return hot and sweaty from a day's ride, chuck some ice in the beer bucket, then strip off and sit around practically naked in your grundies, drink beer, and generally rip the piss out of each other. (point out each others weak points, in a cutting, but humorous manner)

Well that's what we did this July anyway!
