My mates just came back from a track day at Cadwell Park.
I'm not really a track day type person - I've done a few laps around Donington Park, wjhen I had my VTR 1000, but that's it. I suppose I got the impression (with some truth in it), that track days were all about nutters on extreme sports bikes, who'd push harder and harder and harder 'til they fell off.
I can afford to break my Fazer - it's my working tool for touring!
Anyway - my mates are raving about this track day. It's more about advanced rider training than a normal track day. Hardly anyone falls off - none of my riding friends did, naturally.
Give them a try - they are recommended. One of the instructors* pictured. See - it's not all R1s.
They say it's track training for "real" motorcyclists, not wannabees.
*NOTE - Dave commented on this "quick guy" who rode a BMW. Not the fastest machine around, perhaps not what you'd think of as a track day bike eh? However, this guy's progress was noticed. Err....... where are his kneesliders? Why hasn't he got his knee down? Where are the dayglo "Power ranger" leathers? irridium visor and sparking titanium toe sliders? Just think how fast he'd be if he bought that lot :)
Don't believe everything you read in bike magazines. They exist to sell you stuff you aren't good enough to use. |
