This area was Britain's first National Park, and it's right on my doorstep. This is where we used to go on my infamous, one-day, "crash Bill's rental bike" guided tours. It's also where we begin my "Best of Three" long weekend trips.
I don't do any one day "born again" trips now - just the odd trail day. I ran out of rental bikes.
Derbyshire – the Peak District: hotels, b&bs, cottages, attractions, events, shopping and activities This is the most beautiful and spectacular county with inspiring history and heritage set amid awesome natural landscapes.
The towns and villages of Derbyshire are different. The countryside is unique.
The Peak District, Britain’s first national park, encompasses over 500 square miles of stunning countryside as well as bustling towns like Buxton, Ashbourne and Bakewell.
See the Derbyshire Dales with their rivers tumbling out of the peaks with the promise of fantastic walks, scenic views, and nice roads to ride as long as you steer clear of the "hot spots" like the A6, the A57 and the infamous Cat & Fiddle.
See website below for lots more information.
