Q. What is the currency used in France? A. It's the Euro now, which is nromally worth about the same as a US dollar. About 1.5 to 1.7 Euros to one pound Sterling.
Q. What language do they speak?
A. French. This isn't a wind up. It's true.
It's France, it's their country, they speak their own language. What else did you expect? What makes you think you can go over there and expect to be understood, just by shouting louder in English? If a Frenchman walks into your office / shop / factory / school or whatever - would you expect everyone to be able to converse in French with him?
Of course, some people in the hotel or tourist trade have, by necessity, picked up a little English. However, nowhere near to the degree of the Costa Brava etc. And it's so much better for it IMO.
Learning to speak a little French is a bonus, and helps with your enjoyment and interaction with the country. Just a few words and phrases go a long way.
Q. Is France near Iraq?
A. No. But some people think so. |
