Bob M's TT turned Alps trip 2001

"If you’re reading this, then it’s a safe bet you’re considering the services provided by Bill Roughton and his team at Bike Tours UK. As a very satisfied customer of B.T. UK, I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank Bill and crew for one of the best and most memorable vacations I’ve ever had. It was (is this proper Brit slang?) the dog's bollocks. What really prompted me to write in is that this whole vacation could very well never have happened. As with most sport bike enthusiasts, being on the Isle of Mann during the TT has been a dream trip. Well the summer of 2001 was to be the year I realized that dream. I looked around at my options and realized that putting the trip together from the States would be doable but a real P.I.T.A. I came across Bill’s site and made a casual inquiry. After some correspondence and a phone call I decided that Bill was the man that was going to take all the headaches out of the trip planning. All I had to do was show up and the rest would be organized. Well sometimes things just don’t go according to plan and my dream trip got snuffed out by the foot in mouth epidemic. I had a Honda VTR1000 reserved, a plane ticket bought with no refund possible and I had a sizeable deposit with Bill. All dressed up and no where to go! After discussing my options with Bill, I realized that all was not lost, and so I would get to ride a sport bike through the Alps. The point I’m trying to make is that Bill was very flexible and open to any ideas that I had and willing to go the extra mile to accommodate me.
Everything went off without a hitch, all goods and services that were promised were delivered and then some. There was no hassle with accommodations, no hassle with the ferry, no hassle with the bike hire i.e. promised a VTR1000 and wind up on a Helix. I’m a very independent guy and really don’t want to play follow the leader. Again, this was no problem, here’s your bike, here is where your hotels are en route and oh here are some nice maps, have fun and see you there. It was a sport bikers wet dream and I used the whole box of tissue on this one. You can’t go wrong by using B.T. UK. And I’d welcome any correspondence from others that would like to hear more about the actual trip itself."

(thank you very much for that Bob - I actually thought I under-delivered on this one. The actual TT races never happened, through no fault of either of us, and the Alps was your second choice. For various reasons, you were left to your own devices in France quite a bit, but I'm glad you were happy with that.)

The 2001 TT races were cancelled because of the threat of Foot & Mouth disease.  Bob's coming back in 2006 to experience the TT races, assuming there are no more disasters!
