Insurance is getting more and more expensive in the UK.

The bikes are getting faster and faster, parts are expensive and the plastic bodywork particularly is astronomically priced. This partly explains who so many get nicked and broken down for spares. Finally, people keep falling off them. That's what the insurers tell us anyway.

I've just used eBike myself and saved over £100 on my motorcycle policy, and it includes free legal fees, UK breakdown cover, and free "Green Card" for use abroad.

The photos (click them) were both real incidents, but neither resulted in an insurance claim.  Sometimes it's better to just fix it yourself.

Many people ask me if it's possible to either bring their own bike out here and insure it in the UK, OR come over here and buy their own bike to tour around on. No UK insurer I've spoken to has been willing to offer insurance to overseas visitors here, unless they have permanent residency - in reality a fixed address for at least 6 months.

UPDATE - Ebike will accept UK and EU licences.

US citizens - try these people www.motorcycleexpress.com They ship bikes from the USA & Canada to Europe (AND VICE VERSA) and apparently offer insurance in all areas.
