UK Best of Three Tours, April, May and September

The same UK three day "mini-tours" covering some of the nicest parts of three UK National Parks.

Normally 2-3 trips per Summer, although 2013 is becoming a little chock full with other events.

May 10th to 12th 2013 – The Yorkshire Dales & Teeside

A variation of the Best of Three, regular tour.  A trip to suit all budgets, and slightly fewer miles than the 550 mile standard tour.  There will be the usual Inn accommodation in the Dales, but to encourage those budding Adventurers out there,  there will be the option to get back-to-basics and set up camp.  If you’re so inclined, you may witness a fine collection of old tractors and get to use a rarely glimpsed, “lush” toilet.  Rather than ride around the English Lake District on the Saturday, we’ll take alternative roads, with only light traffic normally and have a lunch at the famous Hartside Café.   Highlights – great roads, the vintage tractors, fun nights in the pub. The “lush” toilet.

I am "customer-led" here.... if the first few people to book prefer to have the usual Lake District or Yorkshire Dales trip instead - that's fine by me. I'm happy wherever we go, but I just try and ring the changes a bit now & again.  The Geordieland variation went down well in 2012, so here's the option to repeat it.

September "overspill" dates to be confirmed - to fit around Iceland tour dates

We ride the Derbyshire Peak District, the English Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales; all in one long weekend.

See the articles to your right for full details and photos.  Click any photo to see it enlarged.  All pictures taken on recent tours.  My testimonials page also gives you a flavour of what these short tours are about.

To read someone else's take on this trip read this http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=410 from the famous American Pashnit touring site.  Actually I think "Orson" is Canadian born, but has homes in the USA & Saudi.  He did a "DIY" version of the same trip - same routes - same roads.  Nice pictures - rivalling, or even surpassing my own efforts I must say.

It's nearly always a Friday / Saturday / Sunday - 3-day event

Always a fairly small group.  Max group size is normally 10-15 bikes.  Usually less.  Start from Nottingham 9:15am on Friday.  Many guests coming up from the South tend to stay over Thursday night in Nottingham the night before.  I can arrange accommodation for you.  We usually have a "get to know you" session involving beer, curry, and maybe a trip to England's Oldest Inn.

There are sometimes exceptions to the standard tour.  If there is a high proportion of returning guests, who have already done the standard "Best of Three"  tour before, I sometimes use a different place for a base and I alter the riding routes to suit.  All discussed by email exchanges with potential tour guests..

Tour Costs   - for all Best of three "mini-tours"

1 rider, 1 bike, happy to share a twin room with another tour guest

£165.

1 rider in a single room / or singly occupying double, twin or family room.

£215.

Couple (or friends) on 1 bike, happy to share a double or twin room with each other

£165 for rider and £99 for the pillion passenger.

Note - pillion passengers cost me exactly the same in accommodation as the riders do.  However, I'll allow this discount, because pillions make better use of double & twin rooms, and it's one less bike to look after (or break down!)

Camping version £99, where possible. (There are camspites close to our hotel accommodation in both Dent, Cowgill and Ravenglass)

I can arrange accommodation in Nottingham for anyone requiring this on Thursday night before the tour commences.  This is approx £40 per head, depending on the hotel used.
