Our Hotel
I have visited all, and stayed in several of the 9 hotels in Bourg St Maurice. The most suitable one for our trip is La Petite Auberge situated on the outskirts of the town because it is run by such a very friendly couple – and our bikes are most welcome because the owner himself rides a Triumph Speed Triple. All rooms have private shower, and most have now been upgraded to full en-suite facilities. There is also terrace bar & restaurant attached.
If you really need the upgrade, there is also the brand new, 3 star Hotel L’Autantic, just opposite La Petite Auberge. Although this hotel is new, it’s built in traditional Alpine style. All rooms are modern with en-suite facilities, and some have balconies as well. Use of this 3 star hotel does incur additional cost however, and previous guests have commented on the nicer ambiance and hospitality of La Petite Auberge. Both Hotels are around 15 minutes’ walk into the town centre.
It must also be noted that the "superior" (some would say) 3* Autantic hotel does not have a bar or restuarant either.
La Petite Auberge has a lovely restaurant below the hotel, well-used by the locals, including the local Gendarmes :)
The Restaurant is licensed, (of course), and unlike most hotels, Becky doesn't mind you taking cheap supermarket beer or wine to your rooms. Another credit crunch buster.
