UK Best of Three Tours, April & May 2008

A three day "mini-tour" covering some of the nicest parts of three UK National Parks.

We ride the Derbyshire Peak District, the English Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales; all in one long weekend.

See the articles to your right for full details and photos.  Click any photo to see it enlarged.  All pictures taken on recent tours.

To read an American's take on this trip read this http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=410 from the famous Pashnit touring site.  Actually I think "Orson" is Canadian born, but has homes in the USA & Saudi.  He did a "DIY" version of the same trip - same routes - same roads.  Nice pictures - rivalling, or even surpassing my own efforts I must say.

STOP PRESS - I've been innundated with requests for this tour.  The April & May ones are both full.  However, I'm taking names to run a THIRD trip now.  I don't know when the dates will be, but we'll have to find a weekend to suit everyone.   A time which doesn't clash with a busy Bank Holiday or my other 2008 tours.

It's always a Friday / Saturday / Sunday - 3-day event

Dates for 2008 are;

April 18th-20th  2008 - Standard "Best of three" but with a base in Sedbergh this year, just for a change

Always a small group.  Max group size is normally 10-12 bikes.  Often less.  About full now. Start from Nottingham 9:15am on Friday.  Many guests coming up from the South tend to stay over Thursday night in Nottingham the night before.  I can arrange accommodation for you.  We usually have a "get to know you" session involving beer, curry, and maybe a Trip to England's Oldest Inn.

April Tour now FULL

May 9th to 11th  2008 - Similar routes , but a base in the English Lake District to ring the changes a little

Same kind of trip again.   There is sometimes an exception to the standard tour.  If there is a high proportion of return guests, who have already done the standard "Best of Three"  tour before, I sometimes use a different place for a base (eg. Ravenglass in The Lake District) and I alter the riding routes to suit.  All discussed by email exchanges with potential tour guests..

A price review for 2008 has been implemented, as accommodation costs have increased, and I'm now more aware of my mounting annual overheads!.  All rooms bar one (?) are now en-suite for the 2008 bases.  See our seafront pub in Ravenglass, pictured bottom right.  Real beer, good food, lovely curries as well :)

Tour Costs   - for either the Dales trip in Sedbergh (April), or the lakes trip in May

2 riders sharing a twin room (or a couple on a double room)

£165.    (Feb discount, to 10th March, £155)

1 rider in a single room / or occupying double, twin or family room.

£215.  (Feb discount to 10th March £205)

I believe every room but one,  is now en-suite.

Camping £99, where possible. (not possible in Ravenglass)

I can arrange accommodation in Nottingham for anyone requiring this on Thursday night before the tour commences.

I can do slight discounts for pillions.  They cost me just the same - but it's one less bike to look after.
