PRICE - camping option 2008
|
Camping option in Bourg (hotels en-route) The camping alternative costs £399 for bike and rider, or £299 for pillion passengers. If you’ve never camped before and don’t have the necessary equipment, please get in touch as I can supply tents and associated items if needed. Once again, the price includes the channel crossing tickets and good hotel accommodation en-route – one night on the way down, and one night on the return journey, as well as all camping fees and taxes. La Petite Auberge (the Hotel) is located 14 minutes’ walk to one side of town, and the campsite, Le Versoyen is 10-12 minutes the other way, next to the park, the tennis courts, the supermarkets and the swimming pool.
The campsite, is run by people who’ve become friends of mine – well, I have been camping there regularly, both Winter & Summer, since 1983, so they’re used to me by now. We have our own spaces allocated on the extremities of the site, and it generally isn’t busy at this time of year. The shower and toilet blocks are clean and maintained to a high standard. It’s comfortable 3 star camping!

There is always a diffrent atmosphere amongst the camping group. It's a broad generalisation but, the campers tend to be;
1. Younger
2. Less formal
3. More inclined to be on sports bikes, and more inclined to go for the adrenalin sports in Bourg.
4. "gel" better together - living, eating, riding, drinking, cooking, sleeping in each others lap does this. Triumph over adversity etc. You need to be of an easy going nature.
5. Campers are less organised -they book later - often last minute & are more price sensitive.
6. They are messier, and don't fold their shirts and underpants neatly.
7. There's often a lot of friendly banter, and merciless p**s-taking within the group.
8. I'm usualy one of them! |
